Shane played his minor hockey career in Ontario and a year in Manitoba. He also played three years of Junior A hockey in Ontario, which lead to four years of university hockey with the St. Thomas Tommies of the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union. After his third season at St. Thomas, where he was an all-star and team MVP he earned a free agent tryout contract with the Quebec Nordiques of the National Hockey League.
Shane is currently a principal and staff supervisor in British Columbia. He has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from St. Thomas University and a Masters of Education from the University of Lethbridge.
In the past 4 years Shane has scouted for the Medicine Hat Tigers, 2003-2004, Western Hockey League Champions, and various East Coast Hockey League Organizations, all of which made the playoffs; the past two with NHL affiliations. He has also been an assistant coach and Director of Recruitment at the Junior A level, again being a part of a league championship. His list of contacts and relationships in professional hockey in North America and Europe is extensive and he has been supporting players with their professional aspirations in both markets. Shane also has years of experience coaching at hockey schools and working with minor hockey players.
Shane resides in British Columbia with his wife Tammy and two daughters, Taylor and Makenna.
